A jury found Detective Sergeant Trevor Gray guilty of
raping a woman after a night out. Mr Gray drank several alcoholic beverages with the
victim and after that she went to grab a taxi to go to her house, when exiting the cab she
recalls being shocked to see Mr Gray getting out of the cab too. She does not
recall leaving the bar, but she does recall the horrifying image of Mr Gray
raping her. The detective denies raping the woman and says he even “fell back
into trained police officer mode” when she did not answer his texts. He claims she
consented in having sex with him. Mr Gray is in custody and awaiting sentencing
on Thursday.
To make an accurate judgment of Mr Gray being falsely
accused or actually having raped the woman one needs more information besides
the tainted version of the article. This generally proclaims that Mr.Gray is
guilty of rape and was full of the standard excuses. Physical evidence should
be taken into account, as well as the statements of the victim and alleged
rapist.
My initial thought is "where there's smoke, there's fire", but I agree we need to have more information. She will not be the first woman that is raped by an officer and he will not be the first man to be accused of a crime he may not have committed.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOne of the many examples of how difficult it can be to find prove of rape. What surprises me is that the woman was shocked to see the officer getting out of the cab to. I think that is something you can expect after an evening of boozing together in a bar. She could have done something to prevent further events at that point. Normally my sympathy goes to the women in cases like this but this fact is a bit strange.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenprobably something happened that isn't right, but how come she doesn't recall most off the night, but she did recall being raped? maybe she did say yes and after worth felt violated. I think it's a strange case and they need to get to the bottom of it!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMr Gray is not guilty of rape. I have been married to him for 23 years. He is a kind, gentle and generous man. I left him briefly to fight a second occurrence of breast cancer as he was preoccupied with his job of an undercover police officer (hence the disguise) fighting terrorism and serious crime in the UK. During this time he was unfortunate enough to meet this woman.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHe is now incarcerated for a crime he did not commit whilst this woman walks freely. I was at the trial. She lied in court. One minute she could remember details and the next when convenient she could recall nothing. They spent an hour together the following morning before kissing on the door step agreeing to chat later in the day. Would you engage with a man in this way who you believed had just raped you????
