'They said it would never last': Youngest couple who married days after their 16th birthdays are to celebrate their golden wedding

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2159776/Britains-youngest-couple-celebrate-golden-wedding-married-days-16th-birthdays.html

The adoring elderly couple Marie and George Lyons married just after their 16th birthdays and now celebrate their 50th anniversary. They met when they were 14, and fell madly in love in an instant. Although they faced many people claiming their relationship would never last, they obviously were wrong. The couple knew all along that their love would last forever and they both agree on the fact that love can conquer everything. Their son Tony also celebrates a landmark wedding anniversary, but his is “only” 30 years. The entire Lyons family, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is planning on celebrating these dates in Marie and George’s garden.

What a picture perfect world!  Super sweet, but not every couple claiming that they were meant for each other actually survives 50 years of marriage. It's something to aspire to, but not many will actually make it to 50, or 30, or even 10. I hope this couple makes it to a 100 years, as a matter of speaking.

James Corden to play Paul Potts in new film

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/4374847/James-Corden-to-play-Paul-Potts-in-new-film.html

James Corden, comedian and overall funny guy plus winner of many awards like “Best actor in a play”, is going to play the part of Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, the opera singer. The movie is going to be about the life of Paul Potts. The 41 year old suddenly became famous when winning the first series of the talentshow in 2007. The movie is going to be about the rise of a star from salesman to a world famous tenor. Paul Potts’ wife is going to be performed by US singer Katy Perry.

James Corden actually has some physical resemblance to Paul Potts. Katy Perry however does not look like Paul Potts’ wife Julie-Ann at all. I wonder if the movie is going to be a hit. I actually do not believe that people are eager to watch a movie on Paul Potts.

School needle stabbing rampage

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/insulin-needle-attack-boy-14-884645

A schoolboy from Toot Hill school in Bingham, Notts was arrested for stabbing over 20 of his classmates and inflicting small injuries to most of them. The 14-year-old  went to play a bizarre game and reportedly went crazy using a diabetic pen. He assaulted his fellow pupils with the needle, but the chances of them suffering from something serious is slim, according to health agencies. The pupil has been suspended since the attach and is under investigation. Some parents accused the school of not handling adequately, at which the school opposes by stating the handled things appropriately without causing unnecessary anxiety.

These kinds of events makes you wonder what the world has come to. This is such a bizarre, out of this world train of events that I can not comprehend what urges a 14 year old boy to act out this way and cause these kinds of atrocities.

Nancy Cameron mix-up stirs scorn and sympathy for PM

A number of parents speak up and speak out their sympathy for David and Samantha Cameron after leaving their 8 year old daughter after visiting a pub near Chequers. The couple had lunch at the pub and left, thinking all of 3 of the children were accounted for. Mrs Cameron thought Nancy sat in the car with her father, and David Cameron thought she was with her mother. Some people who experienced the same sympathize with the PM and others can not imagine ever leaving their child somewhere. The opposition mock the Pm by commenting on how he can run an economy not even being able to count to three.

This example of leaving a child behind somewhere is totally irrelevant to one parent leaving his or her child. In this case the PM believed his daughter was in the safe hand of her mother, and her mother thought the exact same thing. It is not that they completely forgot about their child, they were just under the assumption the other parent joined her.

London 2012 Olympics: how to stay in the capital for free

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2012/jun/14/london2012-how-to-stay-london-for-free

A guide to stay in an expensive part of London during the Olympic games without paying anything. House sitting company Trusted Housesitters says people are waiting to get their Olympic tickets and consequently look for housing for this period in the summer. Several types of housing is being offered, and you only pay the sign-up fee to register. The homes are for free. There is a downside, because most houses are being offered because the owners are looking for someone to mind their pets, but if you’re allergic or just do not want to babysit pets there are other options listed in the article.

The option of house sitting is not a bad idea, not only for the Olympic games, but for my stay abroad too. I had an inkling this might actually work for other students. Why would it not be able to work? These houses are offered even to foreigners, in my opinion an English student trying to get a teachers degree will probably have one step ahead of others. I have already put this link in my browser’s favorites.

Shakespeare lessons for three year olds

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-18394927

The Shakespeare Globe theatre's education department are trying to appeal to children as young as three to explore the play The Tempest. Although the play will probably interest children more in a visual manner than verbally, the main objective of this project is to get children excited and have them listening to words they might even not fully comprehend. The original text will be used, but props like puppets are used to make it understandable. The Globe’s Mrs Tildesley says that Shakespeare can be explored in numerous ways and by various audiences, even young children like these nursery-age children.

If performed at a comprehensible level, I think plays like these can absolutely be suitable for children. As long as you do not expect them to fully understand the words or context they will certainly learn from it. It might seem a bit farfetched but well executed it certainly serves a purpose, and it is worth the try. It does not hurt anyone, everyone can enjoy the benefit of this type of extra-curricular activities.

Bed-bound Sergei Zolotovsky jailed for murders

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18459279

Sergei Zolotovsky, a welder from Russia aged 44, stabbed Svetlana Zolotovska, 40, while she was walking to work in East London. Then he murdered Antonina Belska, 70, and made an attempt to end his own life. In prison he made a second attempt which left him paralysed and therefor was allowed to show up in court while in bed. The reason for the murders are that he felt that his wife had taken everything after their divorce, in his view she was a sinner. Not content by just murdering his wife he also killed his mother in law. Within half an hour he was convicted of these murders. During sentencing statement were read from family members of both victims.

A vicious creature, which does not even deserve the title of a human being, killing his ex wife in cold blood should be sentenced within a minute, not even taking half an hour. If the evidence is overwhelming one should not hesitate  to put this man in prison for the rest of his life. Although paralysed, he gained no sympathy from the jury what so ever. In my opinion that is rightfully so.

NeverSeconds blogger Martha Payne school dinner photo ban lifted

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18454800

Martha Payne was prevented putting pictures of her school meals on the internet. The 9-year old put a 'food-o-meter' and rating alongside every meal she ate and photographed at school. Her head teacher took the girl to her office and was told she could no longer post pictures because of a headline in the newspaper. Martha’s father said that "It is a shame that a blog that today went through two million hits, which has inspired debates at home and abroad and raised nearly £2,000 for charity is forced to end." Although the blog was prohibited by the Argyll and Bute council Martha still enjoys going into lunch. Later the council leader said he instructed to lift the ban.

Flabbergasted by the fact that a council is willing to lay down the law on a 9 year old girl posting photographs of school meals. It seems they have something to hide. The council claims Martha’s blogs are causing catering staff to lose their jobs which is ridiculous. It is probably too confronting for them to see pictures of these horrendous meals. I was pleasantly surprised to read that Jamie Oliver supported Martha’s food-o-meter and that the ban was finally lifted under the duress of the public.

Exam board criticised for Jewish prejudice question

An exam board was criticized for one of its GCSE’s. Candidates were asked to explain “why some people are prejudiced against Jews”. The board tries to defends their choice by stating that they did not want to offend anyone, merely wanted students to explain and give an account of Holocaust and prejudice against Jews. Not in any case did the exam board want to offend Judaism. Students knew what was asked of them and made clear they understood the question. Exam board AQA still needs to justify their choice and explain, a follow-up action will be taken if appropriate, says exam regulator Ofqual.

In my opinion people reacted to strongly to a simple question which had the sole purpose of making students think about the subject. No wrong was intended and the question in itself was not stated incorrectly either. Student even came up with the right answer, so no harm no foul.

Nottingham detective Trevor Gray found guilty of rape

A jury found Detective Sergeant Trevor Gray guilty of raping a woman after a night out. Mr Gray drank several alcoholic beverages with the victim and after that she went to grab a taxi to  go to her house, when exiting the cab she recalls being shocked to see Mr Gray getting out of the cab too. She does not recall leaving the bar, but she does recall the horrifying image of Mr Gray raping her. The detective denies raping the woman and says he even “fell back into trained police officer mode” when she did not answer his texts. He claims she consented in having sex with him. Mr Gray is in custody and awaiting sentencing on Thursday.

To make an accurate judgment of Mr Gray being falsely accused or actually having raped the woman one needs more information besides the tainted version of the article. This generally proclaims that Mr.Gray is guilty of rape and was full of the standard excuses. Physical evidence should be taken into account, as well as the statements of the victim and alleged rapist.

THE number of young adults in their mid-30s still living with their parents has rocketed to THREE MILLION

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4345777/1-in-3-men-age-20-34-still-live-with-parents-and-1-in-6-women-stuck-too-as-house-prices-blamed.html

About 1.8 million men and 1.1 million women up until the age of 30 still live at their family home because they either never left of they had to or wanted to move back in. These numbers have sky rocketed because people did not move out. Reasons are high costs, traditional family values and, especially men, do not want to settle down. A large factor in people still living at their parents is that owning a home is almost unaffordable to most people these days, the housing crisis and not enough fairly priced houses are causing difficulty in obtaining a suitable house for young people.

The housing crisis and the lack of  suitable houses for people up to 30 years of age cause the economy to be brought to a halt. Building affordable houses for younger people is much better for the economy because young people invest in their future and in the current economy when buying appliances, furniture, DIY supplies etc.

Diabetes timebomb: Only half of NHS patients receiving acceptable care

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/diabetes-timebomb-only-half-of-nhs-patients-receiving-acceptable-care-7778659.html

Variation in care standards cause people with diabetes to be at a higher risk of sustaining serious complications and even death. Approximately 24000 people in England die every year because they have not received the necessary health checks. Some primary care trust have very few patients that were given the basic tests in order to diminish the risks of diabetes. None of the PCT’s performed the basic tests and the recommended ones.  Less than one in five patients are supervised and medicated adequately for them to not suffer from diabetes related ailments. Tthe amount of money spent on all costs preventing diabetes was not well spent  judging by the rise in the number of patients.

Comment:

Cuts on health care budget is always tricky, because on one hand government is trying to cuts costs but inadvertently cause a rise  in spendings because failing to monitor the condition of patients will eventually harm them and  will cost society even more money. So the opposite of the objective is achieved, society loses even more money.

PM bids for ban on sexy videos (Speaker s corner)

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/4245757/PM-bids-for-sexy-pop-vids-kids-ban.html

Prime Minister David Cameron says kids should be banned from watching certain sexy music videos. Videos by Rihanna, Beyonce and Katy Perry are to explicit for kids to be seen. PM wants to have videos and other footage certified and deemed suitable for younger viewers, he attempts to ban these videos in order to prevent sexualisation amongst youngsters. Talks with the music industry will be held in order to get the industry to show appropriate types of clips. Some parents have expressed their concern about the influence and impact which these sexy videos have. Boys are susceptible and parents believe they might show inappropriate behavior towards women because that is what is shown in the videos. Many industries have responded by putting an age appropriate rating on the their films etc. The only industry not, yet, responding to the debate and recommendation by the PM is the music industry.

If the Prime Minister thinks that sexy music videos should be banned, he should ban the internet altogether. Everywhere on the internet kids these days can find porn much worse than the average Rihanna video. I do agree parental supervision is needed, but an entire ban is out of proportion.

Jamie Dack's death

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-17690674

The 22 year old Jamie Dack was murdered, his body was found burned in an industrial bin in Southampton. Jamie lived in a hostel for homeless people and worked at the Modelzone shop. His colleagues describe him as a hard working and mild mannered guy.
Three man and one woman were charged with the murder of this young man. The four accused of his murder remain in custody while they await charges. Besides murder they were charged with grievous bodily harm, false imprisonment and conspiracy to rob Mr. Dack. They remain in custody and have to appear in court next Thursday.

Unfair that such a young life is ripped away and that his body was maimed in the worst way. It makes you think of why people can do such a thing. It is hard for me to understand that you feel the need to resort to such violence. It is incomprehensible.
